Attending Induction Ceremony of teammate Dawson
(Cooperstown, N.Y., Jul. 24, 2010) – Newark Bears Manager Tim Raines will be in Cooperstown this weekend to attend the 2010 National Baseball Hall of Fame induction ceremonies. Raines will be up there in support of Andre Dawson, his teammate with the Montreal Expos from 1979 to 1986.
“We are hoping that Tim's visit to Cooperstown to support his friend Andre Dawson is practice for his own trip to the Hall of Fame," said Bears General Manager Charlie Dowd. "When you look at the career of Tim Raines and put his numbers against other leadoff hitters in the history of the game, it is apparent that he belongs."
The 2010 Induction Ceremony will be held on the grounds of the Clark Sports Center in Cooperstown, where seating is unlimited. The Ceremony will be televised live on MLB Network, broadcast nationally on Sirius XM Radio Home Plate Channel 175 and will be available via a Webcast at www.baseballHall.org.
In Raines’ absence, coach Ron Karkovice will lead the team for final games against cross-state rival Somerset.
The Newark Bears are a member of the eight-team Atlantic League of Professional Baseball and play their home games at Bears and Eagles Riverfront Stadium. For ticket or sponsorship information, call 973-848-1000, or visit www.newarkbears.com.
