Kids Clinic and Theme Nights Highlight Rivalry Weekend
(Newark, N.J., Jul. 19, 2010) – The Newark Bears wrap up their current road trip and return home on Thursday, July 22 to begin a four-game series with their in-state rival, the Somerset Patriots, at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium.
The Bears and Patriots are both competing for the final spot in the Atlantic League playoffs and vying for a second-half Freedom Division championship. Here is what’s on tap for the four game set:
Thursday, July 22, 6:35 p.m. vs. Somerset (5:35 gates) - CLICK HERE FOR TICKETS - Newark begins a four game series with the Somerset Patriots at Bears & Eagles Riverfront Stadium. It’s both Irish Heritage Night and Law Enforcement Night at the ballpark. The Bears will be honoring the Irish culture with traditional Irish cuisine, pipes & drums, and live Irish entertainment throughout the evening. In addition, local law enforcement will be honored with special themed promotions during Thursday’s ballgame. It’s also Thirsty Thursday, presented by Budweiser and Pepsi, with specials on beer and soft drinks all evening long!

Get to the park early and head down to the field for a pre-game autograph session, presented by PSEG. After the game, fans are invited back to the field to run the bases, during Kids Run the Bases, presented by PSEG. The Bears will also host their Youth Baseball Clinics prior to Sunday’s contest, sponsored by Healthfirst Health Plan of New Jersey. The clinics will run from 4:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. and are open for children ages 8-16 years old.
